2007 FIRST CITIZENS NEUSE CUP

BLACKBEARD SAILING CLUB, NEW BERN, N.C.

 

Come join your fellow sailors for a full moonlight sail as BSC hosts the “First Citizens Cup”. This is a 60-mile overnight (to Gov. Marker “NR” & back) Neuse River race for PHRF sailors. We are adding a “Cruising Class” for those boats with roller furling, standard sails, or specifically “cruisers” on a shorter 35-mile course (to Gov. Marker “#7” & back). This will allow you “Cruisers” to participate and moonlight sail on a shorter course. Open to all mono-hull sailboats 21 feet or longer with a current NC PHRF rating certificate and meeting minimum safety requirements: boat lights capable of 12 hours battery time, safety lines fore and aft, VHF radios and cell phones. Life preservers must be worn at all times while on deck. Trophies awarded in Spinnaker, Non-spinnaker, and Cruising classes. PHRF breaks will be around 100 & 200.  The race will start in the vicinity of Gov. marker #2 at dusk on the 24^th and finish back at Blackbeard in the creek just off the Breakwater on the 25th. Trophies will awarded in all classes. The First Citizens Cups will be awarded to the top three boats overall in the longer race.

The undersigned agrees to be bound by The Racing Rules of Sailing and by all other rules that govern this event.  The undersigned also hereby assumes all risks of accidents and expressly agrees that Blackbeard Sailing Club & First citizens Bank (hereinafter called the sponsors) shall not be liable under any circumstances for any loss or injury to participants or others, or for the loss of or damage to any boat, and the undersigned hereby further agrees to indemnify and hold the sponsors free and harmless under, from and against any and all losses, costs, damages, attorney’s fees and liability of any kind or nature whatsoever growing our of or resulting from participating in the above race.
