2006 NYRA Boat of the Year Rules

1) All NYRA member boats that race BOTY races are automatically qualified.

2) BOTY races are: 

    • First Citizens Cup
    • Clark Cup /ICRC
    • NYRA Invitational
    • HYC Regatta
    • Dragon's Breath Regatta /ICRC
    • The Oar Race Regatta(both days)
    • Hospice Cup /ICRC
    • 2006/2007 NYRA Winter Series (points will be doubled for the Winter Series)
    • 2007 Commodore’s Regatta

3) BOTY will be awarded in Spinnaker and Non-spinnaker. Scores are not combined for boats that race spinnaker and non-spinnaker.

4) Regattas with more than one race and/or a Series will count as "one score" (ex., the Dragons Breath) towards BOTY scoring. A regatta with only one race, such as First Citizens Cup, will count as "one score" towards BOTY scoring.

5) The Winter Series will double the weight of the score for all participating boats.

5) There will be one throw-out score and the Winter Series will not count as that throw-out.

6) Boats will be scored with 1 point plus the number of boats that she beats in her class. For example, a first place boat in a 7 boat class will score 7 points. The seventh place boat will score 1 point. Boats will be scored against the entire class, not just NYRA boats.

7) DSQ and DNF will get one point. DNS and DNC will get no points.

8) Ties will be broken according to "The Racing Rules of Sailing".
