December 2006 Newsletter We now have enough volunteers to fill all of the NYRA board positions but are short a social coordinator. If anyone would like to take on this role, please let Janice Peterson or me know. Janice has done a great job for the last eight years and it is time for her to take a break and for someone else to help out. The end of the year is fast approaching and we are in the process of planning for the Commodore's Ball, which will be held again this year at the Chelsea in downtown New Bern on Feb 24. Any suggestions or offers to help should be directed toward Janice Peterson. We also need input on the Crew of the Year. This is a member nominated award of any NYRA member. If you have a crew that you are particularly impressed with please send a nomination to me in an email. Note that you don't have to be the skipper to nominate a crew for this award. The Winter Series is continuing with some great weather and excellent Race Committee work. We have now completed seven races and the top two boats in both Spinnaker and non-Spinnaker are only a few points apart. Boat of the Year is also very tight and will likely come down to the Commodore's Regatta to determine the winner. Obviously the NYRA board did a much better job figuring out a formula to determine the champion then the BCS did with NCAA football. The Winter Series and BOTY standings are updated on the web page. As always, let me or any board member know if you have any suggestions to improve your club.
