Dick Horn, owner & skipper of "Pussyfootin'",
Cal 34, died last Friday, March 5th, due to complications of cancer.
Dick was a long-time member of the Neuse Yacht Racing Assocation (NYRA).
Many of us have raced against Dick for years at various regattas (both
NYRA and PSC) and immensely enjoyed his company at socials, as well
as PSC Commodore Balls.
If you did not know Dick, or "Super Dick"
as he was often referred to, he was the skipper with the quick smile
and ready conversation at any regatta social. Dick was a regular supporter
and co-sponsor of the Neuse River Womens' Regatta (NYRA). In fact,
when Dick raced out of San Francisco in the 1960s, Grace Slick (Jefferson
Airplane) was a regular crewmember aboard "Pussyfootin' "
for about two years. Dick celebrated his 70th birthday at Oriental
Cup last September. "Super Dick"..... a "Super Person"........he
will be Super Missed by all that were graced by his company, always
filled with spirit, humor, good laughs. Condolences to his wife, children,
family and dear friends. Thanks for the good times and fond memories,
Dick! (Laura Lloyd PSC)
